After I picked Ella up from school today, we ran over to WalMart for a quick oil change on the Denali. While we waited, we had lunch at Sam's Club (which is conveniently next door to WalMart) and I looked over the DVD section. I was so excited to find the five-disc collector's edition of "Anne of Green Gables". It's one of my all time favorite series!!!! The price tag was a bit steep, but I took the plunge by justifying it as an early birthday present. My birthday isn't for a few weeks, but let's face reality, if I really want something I have to buy it for myself anyway. Joe does try to do nice things for me when he's home, but it will be much harder for him this year. Again, another justification.......I'm lending a helping hand to a deployed soldier. Does that count???
All kidding aside, I am so excited to start watching it again. I still remember the first time I saw it on PBS. I was in 6th grade and stumbled on it one night (there wasn't much else to watch because I think we only had 5 TV channels when I lived at home). I fell in love with all of the characters. When I had Sadie and we settled on the middle name Anne, I had to spell it the same way as the character in the movie. "Anne with an "E"." Although she lacks the red hair, she has the mischievous firecracker personality just the same. I can't wait to break open the box and share the beauty of Green Gables and Prince Edward Island with my kids!!!
