Twilight

I can't believe that I forgot this!!!  One night while we were up north, my sister-in-law Mary and I stole away from home, leaving the children with the menfolk.  We headed over to the busiest movie theatre in America (or so I'm told.....but I believe it!) and saw Twilight!  I couldn't believe that someone else had also waited so long to go see it.  We were both excited for a girls night out, and went with very few expectations.

While I wasn't totally blown away by the movie, I was certainly entertained.  After reading so many reviews, I pretty much knew what to expect.  These are a few of my thoughts about the film.

• I liked Bella more than I thought I would. 
• I couldn't take my eyes off of Edwards huge eyebrows.
• I wish that Jacob and Edward could have swapped teeth.
• Rosalie wasn't as breathtakingly beautiful as I thought she should be.
• Dr. Cullen and Rosalie are definetly NOT true blondes.
• Jasper looked like a blonde Edward Scissorhands.  Whenever his face flashed on the screen, the entire theatre roared with laughter.
• I like Alice, apart from her sqeeky high voice and crazy leg swing while she pitched in the baseball scene.
• That being said, my favorite scene was the baseball game.
• There were just too many things in the book that can't possibly be translated onto the big screen without looking cheesy.  (like the way Edward sparkles in the sunlight).  I guess they did fairly well with the budget they were working with.
• And last, but not least....my favorite character was........CHARLIE!  I love his dry character and the way he brought a little comedy to the movie!  Who didn't laugh when Edward picked Bella up and he was cleaning his gun???  Classic!  Is it time to gear up for New Moon now?

I'm having a hard time agreeing with the results.  Have you taken the quiz?  Would Jasper really choose to wear a classic black evening gown????  Do you consider me impulsive???  Nah, I didn't think so either!

Twilight Report

So, I finished Twilight on Wednesday night.  I really liked the book, but I was a bit disappointed also.  While the character development was essential, it took up so much time!!! The conflict in the story seemed to be there and gone in a flash.  I'm hoping that the movie spends a little more time on the suspense aspects.  I guess you would say that I really liked the book, but I didn't LOVE it.  I am looking forward to borrowing the rest of the books from my good friend Lisa so I can see how the characters develop. 

Right now, my house is (as everyone predicted) trashed.  I put too much on hold to read, get ready for Halloween and chauffeur everyone around last week (but what's new).  So, Hi-Ho, Hi-Ho, it's off to work I go!!!  Let's hope I don't get lost in the sea of clothes and toys upstairs!

I'm officially a follower

I've never been a "reader".  I think it was my little form of rebellion (weird, I know...long story).  Reading typically meant work for me.  I don't like being forced into doing things, but when I was pregnant with Sadie, I decided to try reading for enjoyment.  I loved the little bit of downtime I had each day and how I could escape into another world.  I don't read nearly as much as I should, but I'm trying.  

Today, I finally broke down and bought "Twilight" at Sam's Club.  I really wanted to finish all of The Work and the Glory series, but it can wait.  I never read any of the Harry Potter books even though EVERYONE in my family old enough to read has done so. I liked the movies, but the books just don't interest me.  I've kind of felt the same way about the Twilight series.  There is so much hype surrounding them.  I didn't want to read them just because everyone else was doing it. I saw the trailer Stephanie put on her blog and it got me hooked!  I'm so excited to see the movie, but I'm determined to read the book first. Brady shouldn't wake up from his nap for a few more minutes, so I'm going to get started!!!  Wish me luck!
